Pentagon: About Us

Offering the best since 1991

Pentagon was established in the UK in 1991 by Geoff Russell and Peter Mukherjee. Geoff Russell pioneered vehicle film applications in the UK and has some 33 years experience in this field. He was a founder of Australia's market-leader window film franchise operation in 1979. Geoff developed window film businesses and trained related franchisees in New Zealand, Spain, Germany and Holland.

The company ethos right from the start was to offer the best-in-class quality and service using the best technology, and to develop a premium market by focusing on the owners of premium vehicles.

Many in the industry, including film suppliers, felt that the UK climate for window tinting was not strong enough to support such a strategy. However, this very strategy helped grow the overall market for car window tinting.

With the help of Alex Kent and Simon Kendall, Geoff Russell developed the Pentagon method of tinting cars that gave a finish that looked perfect, as though the tints were part of the glass.

In 1998 the same team developed the award-winning product, Supaglass - an ultra thick anti-bandit film which helps prevent smash and grab break attacks on cars and protected occupants from flying glass in the event of an accident.

Steve Gray and Tim Scannell were trained by Geoff and his team back in late 1999, after which they opened Pentagon Glass Tech Reading in January 2000.

Our service centre in Reading is purpose built for the clinical fitting of film to cars. Our premises are maintained to keep dust and dirt to an absolute minimum - the essential basis for the high quality of a Pentagon finish.

The quality of our work is almost indistinguishable from factory privacy glass, so much so that we have received approval from and carry out work for major OEMs including Landrover, BMW (UK), VW/Audi and Mercedes Benz UK, to name just a few.

Our experienced technicians use the techniques and solutions developed by us to ensure blemish-free windows. All work is thoroughly checked during installation both after and before handover, thereby ensuring a perfect finish every time.

The attention to detail is never more important than when fitting Supaglass Security Films as even the smallest imperfection between these very heavy gauge films and the glass is magnified many times.

This eye for optical clarity is also key for the fitting of paint protection films, to ensure as invisible a finish as possible. We started fitting Paint Protection film around 2006: some of our local new car dealerships started to get OEM paint protection film kits and could not fit them properly - they asked us to do so.

Demand grew slowly and in 2009 Pentagon Reading completed Bekaerts Computer cut course and invested in our first 60" plotter for Clearshield. As film technology advanced PPF improved, we stocked Avery Nanofusion film and in October 2012 started stocking Suntek PPF one of the best self-healing films available. In November 2013 we completed Xpel's training course which allowed us to stock Xpel Ultimate - probably the best known and sought after self healing film.

Overall, with years of experience and in-depth knowledge and thousands of cars treated covering all models, at Reading we have the know-how to give your car the perfect finishing touch.
