Our products are self-adhesive polyurethane films designed to protect automotive paint, and other surfaces, from harmful effects of stone chips and minor abrasions. They also have the benefit of a self-healing top coat to ensure a high gloss finish.
Unlike window film, paint protection film does not contain any UV inhibitors so your paint will fade at the same speed as untreated paintwork.
Paint protection film will cover up very fine scratches but it is designed and warrantied for paint on new cars. Any stone chips or poor quality aftermarket paint repairs will actually be highlighted by the film. Unlike car glass which has few flaws or manufacturing imperfections, car paint even on new cars has a much rougher surface and because of the nature of its application is never completely flat or smooth. The ‘orange peel’ effect common in most new cars will still be visible, having a clean preferably new surface to start with is ideal for the best outcome.
We believe in fitting the best films we can source. As a result we recommend Suntek Ultra PPF, Premium Shield Elite both of which offer a ten year warranty. We can also recommend Legend Prime which is the first film to offer a 12 year warranty. We are not limited to any one brand and can fit any film you choose.
Yes. The film is designed to absorb the impact and deflect the stone away. In some instances impacts that have cause dents in a car have still had completely undamaged paint underneath the film – this allows the dent to be removed without any trace of damage or the need for a respray. That said, nothing is impenetrable, but when you consider this product was designed to protect helicopter and large turbine blades it gives you an idea of the damage it can prevent.
Swirl marks and fine scratches will heal, deeper scratches which break the top coat will not. The self-healing top coat is 0.5mils or 12.5 microns thick – which is about as thick as a supermarket plastic bag – with normal care you can have a high gloss better than showroom look for many years.
To put it very simply, the film is cut to shape on a computer plotter, to fit the various shapes/parts of the car as required. The car should be thoroughly cleaned/detailed before fitment; we will perform a final clean right before fitment. A slip solution is used to align the pieces with various emblems/ bodylines of the car, the solution is removed using squeegees, film edges are wrapped if requested where possible, heated and checked before handover.
We have a price list for all models but depending on the car, coverage and film chosen anything from £200 for a standard small kit up to a few thousand for the best film and complete coverage.
